With just a few weeks of term left, the children have been loving the good weather and spending lots of time outdoors. We’re so lucky to have our large, shaded balcony, allowing them to enjoy the fresh air while still having an area to stay out of the sun. We’ve welcomed lots of new starters and their families this term, and they are all settling in well.
It’s that time of the year when parents, carers, staff and sometimes pre-schoolers get a little emotional as we get ready to say goodbye to those children moving up to big school, together with their families. We’ve been preparing them with more structured activities, practising changing their clothes for PE sessions, and lots of pencil control activities. Mrs Woodward is coming to meet children going on to Buckden Primary on the 29th of June and they’re looking forward to showing off their writing, artwork and the amazing plants they’ve grown. And, of course, the goldfish!
On the 12th of July, we will be holding a leavers’ lunch and party, followed by a graduation ceremony. Hankies at the ready! We will miss our leavers, and their carers and families, and wish them all the very best for the future.
Finally, as the school year draws to a close, we want to thank everyone who has supported us through this challenging time. We’re so grateful to the children and their families for cheerfully adapting to the changes we’ve made to keep everyone safe throughout the pandemic. We look forward to a time when we can relax a little more!
We would like to thank Nisa for their continued, generous donation of our snack foods and Sally Adinell, librarian at Buckden Library, for all her help and enthusiasm. Thank you also to Jo Harvey at the village hall for always responding so quickly and positively to our queries and needs, and to everyone who has donated to our collection pot at Nisa.
