Hello from a (partly) re-opened Preschool! At present, we are only accepting a few children back to Preschool, but it has been lovely to welcome back these children and their families, and see familiar faces again!

Of course, it’s not business as usual yet and all government advice is being followed to ensure that the staff, children and their families are as comfortable and well-protected as possible. We have been teaching the children a new handwashing song to encourage them to wash their hands even more thoroughly than usual to reduce the risk of any transmission of infection. We will be monitoring our procedures and any change to government guidelines closely.

The children have been making beautiful brightly-coloured rainbows to display in our windows for everyone to see and we hope they will bring a smile to your face as you walk past. And because life goes on, even in these odd times, we are supporting our school leavers as they get ready for ‘big school’ , even though the transition process will be rather an unusual one.

During our closure period, the staff and children were growing some vegetables and these have now been transferred to a planter at Preschool. The children have been watering them daily and learning all about planting, growing, size and change. They have also been enjoying role-playing running and visiting a garden centre.

For those children who are still not back with us, there are plenty of suggested activities for home learning and fun on our Facebook page and a growing number of useful links on our website on the ‘Learning at Home’ page.

Even though we have only just re-opened, soon the summer holidays will be in sight. So as the end of this most unusual school year approaches, we would like to do something usual and thank all our supporters: the families, committee members and donors who help Preschool to be a success, particularly everyone at Nisa. Thank you!
