Newsletter – October 2019
Preschool roundup We have water available all day on the water tray alongside their bottles. Please label everything (clothes, coats, bottles etc.), as many children have similar coats/jackets etc. so please help us by labelling them. As the weather takes a chilly turn, please ensure your child has suitable outside clothing – warm coats, hats, wellies etc
Please remember that I need final numbers and payment for the Nene Valley Railway Santa trip no later than the 9th October to secure your place. We are closed on this day.
Our parent partnership board is up in the foyer. We love our parents to be involved with the learning that takes place here and on the board, we show you what your child will be learning during the half term. We will offer some suggestions for things that you can do at home or whilst out, so that you can continue their learning and build on their experiences.
Thank you to everyone that has filled out the All About Me bunting with their child. We are now hanging them up in the playroom, so if you haven’t yet done it, then maybe you could find some time this weekend and then bring it in to share with us.
Our theme/topic
The children have enjoyed all the activities and themes we have been doing, such as pine cone painting, chalk drawings, leaf rubbings, visiting the local village and familiar shops and areas, sharing photos of the children’s families at circle time and looking at the all about me bunting. In the last few weeks of the half term we will be starting to look at letter forming in different ways. We’ve been using pencils, paint brushes and sand writing, and introducing phonics to the children. We will then start to get ready for the BIG Halloween party on the 25th October.
After the half term, we will continue with Halloween and introduce a sensory tray of pumpkins seeds, sticks and other items for the children to explore, and we will then move on to fireworks and safety aspects around this.
Our Committee
We are thrilled that parents/carers have come forward to join our committee. We will inform you of the roles and who has filled them. We are more than happy to have more members on the committee, so if you know of anyone (it doesn’t have to be a parent – it can be a grandparent or village member) that would like to join us, please come and speak to Sam. This year will be the 50th year of the playgroup being open, so it’s be a very exciting time to join, but we need a committee to keep running.
The Annual AGM will be taking plac on the 6th November and is held at Preschool in the evening. All are welcome to come along.
