Happy New Year!<\/p>\n
Here at Preschool, we are still taking stringent precautions and constantly assessing our room layouts and routines to ensure we\u2019re keeping our staff, children and families as safe as possible during this third lockdown. Most of our children are attending and we have welcomed some new starters. The children have been very busy training to be vets in our veterinary corner, taking the temperatures of their animal patients and bandaging poorly puppy paws! They\u2019ve also been enjoying making penguins and snowflakes as part of our winter theme, and investigating different textures in our messy and sensory play trays.<\/p>\n
This term, we\u2019ve introduced some new phonics activities and a maths workbook looking at shapes, numbers and categorising objects. Some of the children are also starting on level 1 reading books. We\u2019ve started a \u2018book of the week\u2019 scheme, too, with activities focused on the story and its themes.<\/p>\n
Moving forward, we will be introducing forest school activities and continuing with tasks designed to strengthen the children\u2019s fine motor skills using playdough.<\/p>\n
